How do other councils report from TF facility? I am looking to replace our current SSRS system. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Message from Brian Lee at Gloucestershire County Council:
“Hi Michelle, I generally use system views for most of my reporting now.”
Hi Brian
Thank you for your response. Does system views allow reporting across modules?
Thanks

Message from Michelle McAleese at East Ayrshire Council:
“We have extensive reporting built up using Microsoft Access. Using an ODBC (open database connection) connection you can link to the tables which hold all your TF data. You can then build your own suite of reports. You need someone with good Access skills and some co-operation from your IT department (maybe with the ODBC connection part). We’ve got more than 2200 queries written to support various different business requirements. I also create a switchboard in Access which allows users to click the required information without having knowledge of Access themselves.
We deliver a copy of the reporting database to all TF users when they install the software and you have to setup the ODBC connection on users’ machines. For our main managers we write new reports on a centralised database then make a copy of the database available then get the managers to replace their local copy of the database from time to time. This is usually as new reports are written for a specific purpose/business requirement.
I hope this helps give you something to consider.”
The modules Gloucestershire County Council currently have covered under System Views are:-
Property Register, Plant Register, Hazard Register, Planned Maintenance, Resource Booking, Condition Survey, Suitability Survey, Sufficiency Survey, Instructions, Identified Work, Project Management, Estates Management Utility Register. But there are more being created all the time.
Here at Dorset County Council we have made extensive use of Access to write queries. We then bring them into Excel as making reports look pretty in Access is very time consuming. User views are OK if you only need to report from one module, the majority of our reports require querying across multiple tables.
Hello Michelle
I use Tf for my reports the system reports, the user views, the access database to create my own reports, althouhg Iuse thsi less now that there are more user views, I also use the list views
Good Morning all
Thank you very much for your replies and to the people I spoke to at yesterdays user group. The responses have been really useful. I will not get the support from ICT to go with the Access reporting so I think we will try Crystal reports.
Thanks again
